Dim the Lights, Electric Barbarella!

More photos from Louisiana!

This is disturbing.

We did some gambling. Here is the Harrah's parking lot, where I suffered a panic attack after gambling away the contents of my checking account. JUST KIDDING! Or am I?

Spaceship on wheels.

Each seat on Jet Blue comes equipped with cable TVs...predictably, I was delighted to watch four hours of VH1 Classics!

If That's All There Is, My Friend, Then Let's Keep Dancing

On Sunday, Jeremiah and I checked out The Gates in Central Park. To be honest, upon hearing about the project last year, I interpreted it as a waste of money and a shameless exercise in hanging dirty laundry for the world to see. However, we figured we should go see The Gates on their last day if only for historical value. Reaction?

For me, the classic Peggy Lee song "Is That All There Is?" sprung to mind. Luckily, we managed to find some other diversions in the park. For instance, throwing invisible footballs over The Gates.

Hugging The Gates.

Asking the turtles in Turtle Pond if they liked The Gates. They did not.

Imitating statues.

Imitating The Gates.

Performing interpretive dances of The Gates, much to other viewers' dismay.

Trespassing.

Not sledding.

Hello, Diana Ross.

Goodbye, The Gates.

Wow...Catholic Schoolgirls Rock

We celebrated Bryan's birthday this weekend with the presentation of Guitarded, a collection of covers of songs Bryan has written over the past several years. A bunch of us have been secretly working on the project for months, and Bryan was definitely surprised when we played our recordings for him!

Click here to hear "Catholic Schoolgirls Rock!" Although Bryan wrote the song years ago as a raucous rock and roll tune, we gave it a bit of a 1960s Shangri-Las / Phil Specter spin. That is me doing the male lead, originally sung by Bryan! The lovely Steph, Daniella, and Mary sang back-up (and me in a couple of places, you'll know it's me when you hear a flat note), Mary played bass, Phil played guitar and sang the falsetto part, and Alex played drums.

Bryan, I think, enjoyed our recordings.

George and Jess of El Jezel covered "Tuesday Night."

Tina and Phil, who, with Mary, contributed a rendition of "Crawl."

And a few other photos from the party...Bryan lends me and Becca a hand...a little rubber toy hand.

Mary presents Bryan with a fantastic ice cream cake.

And here are some photos from our recording/mixing sessions a few weeks ago.

Steph prepares.

Behind the music. "Are you guys sure you don't want to add some synthesized horns? A keytar? A Phil Collins-esque key change? Please?"

The ladies behind "Catholic Schoolgirls Rock" recording our clap sound effects!

Mix Master Travis did a smash job of making us sound like rock stars!

Photos from The Gates coming soon!
